JOINING TOGETHER, CELEBRATING INCLUSIVITY

A KINGSTON RACE AND EQUALITIES COUNCIL,
ROYAL BOROUGH OF KINGSTON UPON THAMES
& GLOBAL ARTS Presentation
Sunday 1st September 2024
1.00pm to 5.00pm
Kingston Market Place
This year Kingston Race and Equalities Council (KREC) is opting for a Kingston Small Festival 2024 instead of the annual Kingston Carnival. It takes place as usual on the first Sunday of September which falls on 1st September this year. The event will be at the Kingston Market Place and starts from 1.00pm and finishes at 5.00pm.
There will be no procession through the Town Centre and there will be no road closures. There will be a small stage at the Market Place featuring local talent and promoting the cultural heritage and diversity of the Royal Borough. There will also be a limited number of food stalls selling food from various cultures.
The theme for this year is Joining Together Celebrating Inclusivity.
The theme has become hugely important because of events last week when all over the country racist and fascist took to the streets and violently attacked Police Muslims and Mosques and Asylum Seekers Refugees and Migrants using the murder of three young girls in Salford as an excuse.
KREC wants to use this event to bring communities together to fight and resist those who seek to separate us and destroy the cohesion and good race and community relations which exist within all communities.
We invite everyone to join us to celebrate what is good about Kingston.
This small festival is the prelude to a much bigger Kingston Carnival which we are planning as part of the Kingston 2025 plan. All the activities we have in the Carnival and much more will be back and we plan to have Big Mash Up for Kingston Carnival 2025 which will be on Sunday 7th September 2025.
